The district was founded in 1950 and is one of the largest of the 43 districts of PAA (PZW) in the country. At the end of 2017, the number of associated members of our District was nearly 24,000, affiliated in 100 circles. The organizational structure, authorities and objectives of the Association are defined in the Statutes of the PAA.

In our modern Stocking Center in Szczodre, we run a fisheries economy producing stocking material (24 species) for the purposes of our waters and the Odra river basin. It is hatching or fry (in different stages of breeding), inter alia of the following fish: salmonids – salmon, sea trout, trout, grayling; lowland predatory fish – zander, pike, catfish, and polyphyletic fish – asp, barbell, vimba. We cooperate with Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, University of Wroclaw and the Institute of Inland Fisheries in the field of popular science in the field of fisheries. We also produce fish for the needs of marine areas cooperating with the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation and with the Ministry of Agriculture. Educational youth angling schools with respect to nature protection, ecology and biology are conducted in the area of the Stocking Center.
